Impact / Future Metrics

Most of the main tasks were completed successfully.

MVP Version achieved an SUS score of 78, suggesting good usability.

Early testers rated their overall experience with OMTOU V2 an average of 8.2 out of 10.

Since OMTOU V2 is still in the MVP testing phase and has not yet been publicly launched, we conducted several testing phases following iterations on various features.

Why?

We integrated sound into OMTOU V2 to simply move beyond typical visual and text-based social apps.

Our tests showed that using ambient sounds led 80% of users to imagine unexpected places, proving that audio can evoke deep, surprising narratives and emotions.

What my intuition does not know…

In the beginning, we opted for a familiar interface that resembled a music and video player on the main page, ensuring the app wasn't solely audio-based.

However, feedback from our early user testing revealed a challenge: users mistook it for a streaming service and were hesitant to engage with audio from unknown sources.

Recognizing the need for clarity, I removed the streaming platform-style card layout and introduced CTAs with descriptive text. Through rigorous user testing and iterations, this approach led to a 20% increase in users continuing the preset journey.

More importantly, there is certainly a potential mental barrier due to our app’s unique structure and how to encourage people to record sounds instead of taking photos or videos, I also proposed a new strategy focused on closed friend groups, this way users felt less obligated to listen to random sounds or noises recorded by strangers, but more of a new way to socialize with their friends.

How to encourage recording sound behavior?

This shift allowed users to invite friends to join the app and collaboratively create their own mysterious journeys, enhancing engagement and personalizing the experience.

While the redesigned app is yet to launch, our MVP version has led to a high completion rate in user testing phases, indicating that the new features and design adjustments are well-received. The ongoing feedback from these tests continues to inform our iterations, ensuring that we are on track to launch a product that resonates well with our target markets.
